Lady Glenbarr, Jeanne Macalister, manages the Clan Centre for the Clan MacAlister Charitable Trust. Since the winter of 2008/09 she has resided in the adjoining Coach House as the main house is very expensive to heat. (Not to mention the yearly battle with the local Council officials about how much she should pay in Council tax on the living space she occupied in the much larger main Abbey house.)
Mr. Currey, our resident maintenance manager, and cook for our bed and breakfast guests, does a great deal of work on cleaning up and improving the the main driveway near the Abbey. Maintenance expensea on the Trust property never ends. Due to the current world economy, there are fewer tourists visiting and touring the Abbey.
Lady Glenbarr conducts daily tours from 11:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday through Sunday. The Abbey is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. She serves tea in the gift shop where a great selection of MacAlister and Scottish hand made items are available. Sales from the gift shop and tour help to keep the doors open and the lights on.
